Time for the New Year’s revue – but much of the audience has disappeared

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Linköping’s New Year’s revue premieres today, December 30th, after a couple of years of hiatus due to the pandemic, but director Håkan Bäck tells us that it was doubtful for a long time whether to run a New Year’s revue this year.

– These are more difficult times to find an audience now and when the economic crisis has now also hit, I was doubtful. He says it was the ensemble that convinced him they should take the plunge and maybe a revue is exactly what people need in times of crisis.

Less local in the local revues

In the revue, issues about the new political government in Linköping and all the roundabout projects in Mjölby are offered, but otherwise there won’t be very many truly local issues, says Håkan Bäck:

– 40-50 years ago, people knew more about local politicians and celebrities, nowadays the revues are more about what is happening in the whole country and the world, so our revue suits everyone, but not if you understand Eastern Gothic.
