(Finance) – FiberCop, the Group’s infrastructure operator TIM, and TLC Telecomunicazioni, a telecommunications operator active throughout the country, have signed an agreement that will make it possible to develop the FTTH (Fiber to the Home) access market through the participation of TLC Telecomunicazioni in the co-investment project on the FiberCop network.

Under this agreement, TLC Telecomunicazioni will use the secondary access network in optical fiber up to the homes of FiberCop to develop the FTTH (Fiber to the Home) access market in seven municipalities in Lazio, Puglia and Campania. The municipalities included in the agreement are: Formia, Gaeta, Castellaneta, Bellona, Pietramelara, Sparanise and San Salvatore Telesino.

The adhesion of TLC Telecomunicazioni to the co-investment offer that the TIM Group makes through FiberCop, further confirms the validity of the FiberCop investment plan which will ensure FTTH coverage for approximately 60% of the country’s real estate units by 2026.

The agreement reached – reads a note – confirms the effectiveness of the co-investment model which allows all interested operators to participate in the development of optical fiber in Italy in a framework of infrastructural competition.

Furthermore, it accelerates the overcoming of the digital divide on the national territory and provides households and businesses with ultra-broadband connections with speeds greater than 1 Gigabit per second.
