The Salvation Army in Tillsonburg is preparing for a busy Christmas season.

The Salvation Army will be participating with a float in Tillsonburg’s 6 pm night-time Santa Claus Parade on Nov. 18.

“We are asking for people to bring coats, toys, and possibly money donations, for when we have our bubbles go by,” said Young.
Christmas hamper applications can be submitted Nov. 15, Nov. 17, Nov. 20, Nov. 24, Nov. 29 and Dec. 1st at ‘The Spot,’ located on the second floor of the Tillsonburg Town Center mall.
Bring your ID (and preferably ID for the household), last month’s bank statement, source of income, and expenses (rent and utilities).
This year hampers will include food for a Christmas dinner, and gift card for perishables – meat, eggs, butter, bread, milk.
“Our food bank is still open for the month of December,” Young noted.
Hamper applicants will be given a pickup date at the Salvation Army Church for food and/or toy hampers. Hamper distribution days are Dec. 18-21 with two backup days in case the weather is bad Dec. 21-22.
“Toys are picked up the same day as the food. It could be just toys, the week of Dec. 18-21, or just food, or both.”
Hougton’s hamper pickup day in Fairground is Dec. 18.
Last year 636 individuals received support from Tillsonburg Salvation Army hampers, including 296 adults, 265 children and 75 teens (about 200 households).
The Tillsonburg Salvation Army kettle campaign kicks off on Nov. 18.
