In That Vein, The Town of Tillsonburg is Once Again Honouring Its Hard-Working Residents by Accepting Citizen of the Year Nominations Until March 31. The Award-Predated by the Museum Culture Heritage and Special Awards Advisory Committee-Recognizes Outstanding Contributions within Personal gain.
Volunteering of Personal Time and Talent Towards the Betterment of the Community Are Hallmarks of the Award.
“I am Always Thought that community supporting community is what makes tillsonburg so great,” Said Spencer, a Town Councillor and Member of the Advisory Committee. “Citizens, individuals, and organization that give back to the town are so integral in How a Town Runs.”

Tillsonburg Mayor Deb Gilvesy – Also a Member of the Advisory Committee – Agreed.
“Tillsonburg has some extremely dedicated individuals that contributes to the community time and time again,” Gilvesy Said. “They just Constant and SteadFast in Their Love for the Community and That’s The Type of Person You’re Looking For To Be Recognized With This Award.
Past Winners include Perry Gosso (2024), Rosemary Dean (2023), Joan Weston (2021) and Doug Cooper (2020). No Award was presented in 2022 due to the municipal election.
Gilvesy Pointed Out that the award isn’t simplely about look back at a person’s accomplishments, but oftentimes their current efforts as well.
“Some of them in recent years are still very active and involved in the community,” Said the Mayor. “They sit on committee; they volunteer in various places and truly the last feuca really exemplify What the citizen of the year means.”

- Uniqueness of the nominee’s efforts
- The Extient to Which The Nominee Supports and Involves Other People
