Tilbury man allegedly lies about stolen truck

Police avoided head on collision Blenheim man arrested

On Feb. 6, a 51-year-old Tilbury man contacted Chatham-Kent police to advise his pickup truck had been stolen.

This vehicle had been involved in a fail to remain collision in that community.

However, through investigation, it was alleged the man had been lying about the stolen vehicle and fabricated the complaint to avoid arrest, police said.

On Friday, the man was arrested and charged with public mischief, fail to remain at a collision and careless driving. He was released with a short date.

Traffic stop leads to arrest

Police located an Audi on a roadway Friday. The license plates were checked and believed to be stolen.

A traffic stop identified the driver as a 30-year-old Chatham man. He was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property and driving while prohibited.

The vehicle was impounded for 45 days and the man was released with a short date.

On Friday, police were looking into a criminal matter in Chatham.

While investigating, police located a 28-year-old man with an outstanding warrant for allegedly breaching his probation order.

He was arrested and released with a court date.
