This spring, President Joe Biden signed a new law that means Bytedance has until January 19 to sell Tiktok to a non-Chinese owner. Failure to do so will result in the app being banned.
Tiktok has argued that it is not a Chinese company and challenged the law citing freedom of expression.
But the move is now rejected by a federal appeals court. This with the justification that the state acted to limit a foreign power’s collection of American citizens’ information.
Much now indicates that the matter can be taken to the Supreme Court, writes CBS.
