Tiktok does not get round EU laws

The DMA is an EU regulatory framework aimed at the largest internet giants and their way of competing and working with smaller players.

In an email to TT, Tiktok writes that they are disappointed by the decision and that they have not decided how to proceed but that they have “taken steps to live up to the relevant obligations under the DMA”.

According to the regulations, the tech giants must give business users access to data, allow them to sign contracts with end customers outside the giants’ platforms, and in some cases allow third-party actors to interact with their own services.

The giants are also not allowed to favor their own products in terms of ranking, or prevent customers from uninstalling pre-installed software, or collect data outside the core platform without consent.
