TikTok ban on public devices from the UK

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Concerns about TikTok’s proximity to the Chinese government and its holding of user data around the world have been growing lately. A ban on TikTok, the social media application belonging to the Chinese company ByteDance, came from the UK. British Cabinet Office Minister Oliver Dowden announced in the House of Commons that the use of TikTok on public phones and other electronic devices is prohibited.

Stating that the decision was taken for security reasons, Dowden said, “This is actually an important precaution. We know that the use of the TikTok application across the government is limited. However, we will actually provide a cyber cleanup. The ban applies to state-owned devices. Of course, their devices are not within the scope of the ban,” he said. (UAV)
