Tiia Koivisto used 66 strokes in the final round, which is five below the ideal result. The victory was decided only in the rematch against Whitney Hillier of Australia.

Tiia Koivisto has won the fourth ever European women ‘s golf tour in France.

Koivisto, 28, who finished in fourth place on the closing day, played a great round on Saturday, using 66 strokes, five below the ideal result. Mäntsäläinen hit as many as six birdies in the round.

The victory was decided by Australia Whitney Hillier on the replay route against which Koivisto again struck the birdie.

Koivisto’s competition was on the rise, as he played one over a pair in the first round on Thursday. On Friday, he undercut the pair with two strokes and rose to the strike distance from the tip. The difference with Hillier was still three punches on the start of the third and final round.

According to the official Twitter account of the women’s European tour, Koivisto earned a place in the major tournament competing in France in July.

Koivisto even topped the Madrid race a couple of weeks ago, but then dropped to tenth in the final results. Before the French race it was Koivisto’s best place in LET.

Other Finns who took part in the French competition, Sanna Nuutinen, Emily Penttilä, Emilia Tukiainen, Elina Nummenpää and Linda Henriksson were eliminated from the last round.

Before Koivisto, Finns have celebrated their victory in LET competitions Minea Blomqvist-Kakko (2004 and 2008), Riikka Hakkarainen (2006) and most recently Matilda Castren In Turku in the summer of 2021.
