The use of blades and economical skating have been practiced by famous puck stars. Lion’s pack, two-time world champion and Olympic winner with Hurme and Lehkonen in summer Mikko Lehtonen as well as NHL hockey players Mikko Rantanen, Artturi Lehkonen, Rasmus Ristolainen and Kaapo Kakko.

– It is very popular in the world that the tops of the sport go through the use of blades and weight transfer with a figure skating coach. When the skating is okay, then you don’t get tired and you have more time on the field to follow the game and think of solutions. Economic skating brings a huge advantage – when the slide is in place, so little power is needed, Hurme guides.

The biggest change in skating position

When the puckers arrive at the figure skater’s training, the biggest change usually comes from posture and posture. The head should stay between the shoulders to make the skating balanced.

– I almost always have to intervene in the skating position first. As a rule, hockey players are taught to skate with their buttocks down, which makes the thighs acidify very quickly and skating consumes huge amounts of energy. In addition, the head must be up, because it is a type of contact, Hurme says.

– You can only learn to skate by skating on the ice, there is no shortcut, you need repetitions. In order to make skating energy efficient, you need a good position where you can play and see the field. Skating can be made easier by doing the right thing. It’s a glide, you have to remember to know and take advantage of the glide.

– I can skate for at least six hours in the tube, but if I run two kilometers, I’m just punctured and every place is ruined, Hurme laughs.

To keep Hurme up to date, he regularly visits Canada to learn from the local maestro.

– Now that Korona was finally relaxed and I was able to travel again, I went to Montreal and Vancouver to watch the ice skating training there and learn more. There are always fresh ideas coming in and you get a different perspective on what you do when you sometimes smell the wind elsewhere, says Hurme.

Disc and skating camps employ Hurme and Lehko, the summer is spent in the halls of the hall hidden from daylight.

Artturi Lehkonen was hired as a figure skating coach at the age of five

Artturi Lehkonen started training with a figure skating coach at the age of about five.

– I did so-called barter with a figure skating coach Tuula Ervelän Artturi’s father recalls Ismo Lehkonen.

– Tuula learned Ars on the ice and I drew a stick gym at the same time for figure skaters trained by Tuula.

– I think if you want to be a good skater, look for a figure skating coach and go to skating lessons. If, on the other hand, you want to be a good piano player, you should head to Switzerland to teach top pianists, or if you want to be a ballerina, then head to Moscow for top packages, concludes Lehkonen.
