Earlier this year, both legends met at the PNC Championship where they played alongside their sons.
– Of course it was fun. William is super into golf and plays all the time. He follows the tours and the players everywhere, he lives for golf, so to meet these players that he sees on TV, reads about and has grown up with, he thinks is great fun. He got to meet Tiger in person and it’s a role model for him, says Sörenstam in an interview with Sportbladet.

The golf sons
12-year-old William follows in the footsteps of mother Annika and 14-year-old Charlie follows in the footsteps of father Tiger and both are predicted to have a bright future in golf as two great talents already at a young age. Both have Swedish mothers and can therefore choose to compete for Sweden. Charlie Wood’s mother is Tiger’s ex-wife Elin Nordegren and thus there is an opening to do just like the pole vault star Armand Duplantis did and opt out of the USA for Sweden.
– I don’t know if Charlie has a Swedish passport. William has it anyway, but is it approved? I don’t know what applies. But absolutely, you never know! If they could represent Sweden in some kind of world championship, then it should be like that, admits Annika Sörenstam in the interview.

The Swedish golf icon is also already impressed by son William’s progress as a golfer, just 12 years old.
– He went under par for the first time this week, from the red tee – about 5,000 meters. He was super happy and we were proud. He thinks it’s great fun. He played yesterday (at Ullna GC) and made five birdies anyway. This is his dream, then we’ll see how it turns out, but he has a great close game, I can tell you that, she tells the evening newspaper.
