Zenless Zone Zero has a total of 17 different characters at release. We at MeinMMO show you in our tier list of version 1.0 which agents are the strongest. There is also a short description of what makes them so good.
How was the ranking created? The tier list is divided into four ranks, including: S-Tier, A-Tier, B-Tier and C-Tier. The tier list is intended to give you a rough overview of the characters in Zenless Zone Zero. We compared sources such as PC Gamer, GameSpot, PCGamesN and GenshinLab with our own experiences in the editorial department and created a ranking.

S-Tier: Ellen, Lycaon, Rina, Grace, Zhu Yuan and Nekomata
Ellen
Ellen Joe is ideal for beginners because she is easy to play compared to other characters. She can move quickly across the playing field using a special sprint mode, making it easier to avoid attacks from her opponents.
She is characterized by a high critical hit rate and high ice damage. Ellen can carry out quick and precise attacks and also cause large area damage (AoE). Currently, she is probably the best choice for a damage character (DPS). She also uses few resources, because her main damage skills do not use any energy.
Lycaon
With Lycaon on your team, you have an agent who is more of a support agent. He can stun enemies after a certain amount of time with super-fast strikes. This way, the main damage dealer can take over the rest.
He also deals solid damage outside of stunning. His normal attacks can be charged, which means they do more damage. This makes him suitable as a second DD character in the team – ideally with other ice agents such as Ellen.
Lycaon’s talents like Full Moon Momentum and Energy Feedback increase his damage and he regains energy. His role in the team is dynamic, as he can act as both an attacker and a supporter – depending on what is needed in the fight. He also has a high HP value, which also makes him tanky.
Rina
Rina has a long range and is a real support. She increases the damage dealt by her allies and is incredibly mobile.
Her passive ability increases the team’s electro damage after attacks from her companions Drusilla and Anastella, whom she can summon. Her pen ratio buff is useful for all characters. She can also increase shock damage and shock duration with a buff. She herself does relatively little damage.
Grace
Grace’s kit is pretty strong overall. She throws grenades and deals area of effect damage (AoE) to her opponents. She is also very mobile and fast. Her attack animations range from jumps to somersaults.
Grace has the ability to quickly shock enemies, effectively accumulate her own attribute anomalies, and improve the performance of other Electro agents. Together with Rina, you have an ideal Electro duo. Her talents such as Recharge Chamber and Lightning Piercer strengthen the team and reduce enemies’ resistance to Electro damage.
Zhu Yuan
Zhu Yuan is currently one of the best characters in Zenless Zone Zero. She is the only member of the Criminal Investigation Special Response Team. Zhu Yuan is characterized by her versatile attack skills. She can cause physical and aether damage and switch between ranged and melee combat.
She also has a high attack speed. Her EX special gives her charges for improved shotgun shells. This allows her to deal a lot of aether damage. She is the only member of her faction, which makes it difficult to exploit her full potential. If you want to play Zhu Yuan, we recommend that you take agent Nicole on your team – we’ll come to that later.
Nekomata
With Nekomata you have a physical damage agent with a high crit chance. Her skills are designed to take out enemies with fast, powerful strikes and high crit damage.
Her kit is designed to increase her own damage – for example, through successful dodge counters. If you prefer a fast playstyle and a lot of damage, Nekomata could be the ideal agent for you.
A-Tier: Soldier 11, Lucy, Nicole and Soukaku
Soldier11
Soldier 11’s attacks combine physical and fire damage. With her skills like Raging Fire, Fervent Fire and Uplifting Flame, she can deal massive fire damage. Her ultimate Bellowing Flame and her chain attack Uplifting Flame are strong AoE skills. At the same time, she is mobile and fast.
If you have at least 2 fire agents on your team, they will benefit from Fields of Fire. This additional skill increases their energy regeneration and improves their fire damage.
Lucy
Lucy is a fire support agent who uses her abilities to support her team while dealing damage. Her ultimate deals high AoE fire damage. During this ability, other team members regain energy and the next character to switch gains additional energy.
Her role is to increase the team’s efficiency and deal powerful AoE fire damage, especially when she activates the Cheer On! (Special Attack) effect, which increases the ATK of allies by a percentage of Lucy’s ATK, up to a maximum of 600. During her Special Attack, she can also summon Guard Boars to help her in battle.
Nicole
Nicole can create gravitational fields and pull enemies into their center, allowing other agents to deal a lot of damage over time – so you can gather many enemies into one group and bombard them with a team combo.
This gives her a high AoE potential and is particularly suitable for larger groups of enemies. Her aether attribute allows her to create a debuff (corruption) that causes aether damage over time and can interrupt the targets’ actions.
Soukaku
Soukaku is a support agent whose strengths focus on ice damage and tactical support. Her skills are designed for direct combat and team support. Cooling Bento! and Rally! allow her to perform powerful ice damage attacks while also providing team support.
Soukaku’s playstyle revolves around collecting three stacks of Vortex with her EX special attack before using Fly the Flag and entering Frosted Banner Mode, which strengthens her normal attacks, among other things.
B-Tier: Anton, Anby, Koleda and Ben
Anton
Anton focuses on electro-damage and skills that control the battlefield. His attacks can cover large areas. His burst mode makes his attacks more powerful.
Anton benefits greatly from teamwork with other Electric characters, increasing his effects. His talents such as Warm-up Exercise and State of Flow improve his energy regeneration and provide additional defense through shields.
Anby
Anby is a character with electric stun attacks and slash damage. She is especially useful for crowd control and as a stun character so the others on the team can dish out some serious damage.
She also has supportive traits for the team through her passive abilities, which improve the energy regeneration of electric characters.
Koleda
Koleda is a melee fighter with a strong focus on fire damage and crowd control. Her abilities allow her to perform powerful fire attacks that deal both area of effect and single-target damage.
She is particularly strong in teams with other fire agents and can deal good damage continuously with her skills and stun enemies very quickly. Together with Ben, her attacks are further strengthened.
Ben
Ben is a fire damage tank. His fighting style combines attacks with strong defense, allowing him to block enemy attacks and respond with counter attacks.
His talents like Reacting Force and Offense Through Defense improve his ability to block attacks while reducing incoming damage or dealing additional damage.
C-Tier: Corin, Piper and Billy
Corin
Corin is a melee fighter built for a high crit rate. Her abilities, especially her chainsaw attacks like Clean Sweep and Skirt Alert, benefit from her critical hits.
Corin has several chainsaw attacks that can deal area of effect (AoE) damage, most notably her Special Attack (Clean Sweep) and her EX Special Attack (Skirt Alert). In addition to her AoE damage, Corin is also capable of dealing decent single-target damage.
Piper
Piper is a melee fighter who specializes in physical damage and has a variety of attacks. With skills like Tire Spin and Engine Spin, she can perform attacks that deal physical damage to large areas around her.
During her special attack (Tire Spin) and her EX special attack (Engine Spin), her protection against interruptions increases and she takes 40% less damage. Her focus is on building up Assault Anomaly, which deals a lot of damage to enemies.
Billy
Billy is a long-range DD who shoots with two revolvers. He uses his EX special attack and ultimate to strengthen the anomaly build. He can deal a lot of AoE damage with his chain attack.
However, he has low HP and DEF values, which makes him more vulnerable overall. However, with his long range you can act relatively safely against close combat fighters.
Overall, it is difficult to create a suitable tier list, as it also depends heavily on your preferences and how you put together your team.
