Tibbling defends Bella Nilsson despite the finding of faith

The main suspect is suspected of having taken out multimillion-dollar sums – it is unclear where the money is

TV4 Nyheterna has previously revealed how, during a search of Bella Nilsson’s apartment, a badge from the Public Prosecutor’s Office was found in her drawer of underwear. The police were puzzled when they realized that it belonged to Jan Tibbling, who until recently was chief prosecutor at the Ecocrime Authority. He replied that it ended up there after he quit EBM, after a dinner at Fariba Vancor’s, which is Bella Nilsson’s new name.

Police employees that TV4 has been in contact with have also reacted to his change from the Ecocrime Authority to become Fariba Vancor’s lawyer, because during his time at the authority she was investigated for suspected money laundering. Now Jan Tibbling is public defender for Fariba Vancor.

– A public defender must stand free in relation to his client and have no conflict of interest, says a police officer.

Has millions of debts with the Crown Office

Fariba Vancor is suspected of having taken multi-million sums out of Think Pink before the bankruptcy. It is unclear where some of the money is now. She now has around SEK 2.5 million in debts with the Crown Bailiff and you could have thought that her life had become poorer. But an entrepreneur has brought over approximately SEK 2.4 million which covered her expenses, for example a long series of trips, private consumption, cosmetic surgery and legal fees.

According to the Swedish Enforcement Agency, this is permitted.

– There is no obstacle to receiving gifts when you are in debt, says bailiff Filip Håkansson.

But here Jan Tibbling comes into the picture again. He is the chairman of the board of the entrepreneur’s limited company. There are no reports of wrongdoing, but the issue of lawyers on boards is controversial, as the resulting secrecy could hinder police and prosecutors in possible investigations.

– There could potentially arise questions about irregularities around money flows, if EBM were to investigate suspicions, it would be strange if the defender sits in the company, says a source.

No conflict of interest

Police officers working with the Think Pink gang alerted the case’s prosecutor Anders Gustafsson.

– The situation appeared to be problematic, we thought a lot about it, but our opinion is that there is no conflict of interest or scum, says prosecutor Anders Gustafsson.

– The prosecutor should have informed the district court and the court should have asked for an explanation on the issue of fraud. I also think that the Bar Association, which is responsible for supervision, should act, says a police employee.

Jan Tibbling has declined an interview with TV4 and replies in a text message that he is not aware of any transfers from the entrepreneur. This despite the fact that SEK 500,000 was transferred to himself, labeled “client”.

“I do not consider that there is any conflict of interest,” writes Tibbling.
