An American design agency has unveiled a four- or six-wheel drive all-terrain concept cut out for adventure, with an integrated camping tent and kitchen, retractable solar awning and a scout drone.

The advantage with concepts is that they offer total freedom. And the least we can say is that Wolfgang LA has granted himself all latitude to imagine an amazing electric pickup multifunction. His Thundertruck is somehow a hybrid between the Tesla Cybertruck and one camping car high tech.
Its bodywork with taut angles and wide flat surfaces immediately evokes the style minimalist off-roadElon Musk. Perched high with its ground clearance of 37cm, the machine is 5.2 m long and 2.2 m wide. It is equipped with two electric motors developing 800 hp and all-wheel drive. In its “base” configuration, the Thundertruck has a 180 kWh battery that offers up to 640 km of autonomy. Wolfgang LA claims he could go from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds.
An expansion module to upgrade to six-wheel drive
Designed for adventure away from any electrical outlet, the 4×4 can recharge its batteries thanks to flexible and retractable photovoltaic panels which act as awning to shelter campers. The pick-up bed turns into a sleeping tent while the equipped kitchen is hidden in a large side drawer, like on the pick-up Rivian R1T. Wolfgang LA also imagined a drone reconnaissance that can take off from the roof Thundertruck to scout the surroundings.
But the most spectacular is undoubtedly the extension module which allows to pass from four to six wheel drive, to add 140 hp of engine power and to increase the autonomy to 900 km. It comes in the form of a self-balancing trailer that is coupled to the chassis. On paper, the assembly is seamlessly integrated into the body and turns the Thundertruck into a twin-axle pickup. However, it is difficult to imagine that it could be so harmonious in reality. But that’s all charm of a concept that does not have to bother with this kind of “detail”.
