This year, Deadpool & Wolverine had to carry the torch of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the cinema on their own, but in 2025 we can expect three new MCU blockbusters on the big screen. This includes the crossover film Thunderbolts*.

The recently released first trailer for Thunderbolts* not only provides exciting insights into the dark action adventure of the anti-Avengers. The Avengers Tower, previously known as Stark Tower, is one of the most iconic buildings in the MCU, playing an important role in the first Avengers film. However, one crossover film later, in Age of Ultron, the superheroes left the New York skyscraper behind and moved into a new headquarters. Tony Stark eventually sold the building – but to whom?

Since Spider-Man: Homecoming, we know that the former Avengers Tower was sold to a new owner. But in the 18 (!) films that followed, the MCU cleverly refused to give any answers, creating a huge mystery that has given rise to numerous theories in recent years. Now the Thunderbolts trailer provides the first concrete clue to solve the riddle.

In the new trailer for the antihero crossover Thunderbolts, Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), John Walker (Wyatt Russell), Red Guardian (David Harbour), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen) and Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko) meet in a high-rise building in New York, which is most likely the former Avengers Tower. After all, Tony Stark’s ripped-out bar can even be seen.

The team is greeted in this short scene by CIA chief Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), who brings together her own, darker version of the Avengers in the new film. Thanks to Val’s appearance, we can assume that the former Stark building purchased by the US government We will finally get a final solution to this puzzle next year.

When will the new Marvel film Thunderbolts* be released in cinemas?

Thunderbolts* launches on 30 April 2025 in German cinemas. It is the second MCU film of the coming year after Captain America: Brave New World, which will be shown on the big screen from February 12, 2025. Marvel fans can also look forward to The Fantastic Four: First Steps from July 23, 2025.
