A 17-year-old is sentenced for throwing a hand grenade into a grocery store in Södertälje on July 22 this summer.
The grenade hit the foot of a customer who was paying at the cash register, and rolled under the cash register where it exploded. The customer was seriously injured in the lower body, and was hospitalized for a couple of weeks.
The 17-year-old is said to have been assigned to throw in the grenade, and has admitted the crime, but denies that the intention was to injure.
However, the district court sentences the 17-year-old for, among other things, three cases of attempted murder to closed youth care for three years. The sentence would have been much longer if the person had not been so young at the time. The 17-year-old must also pay a total of more than one million kroner in damages to the crime victims.
The 17-year-old is also convicted of aiding and abetting attempted murder, for an incident a few weeks earlier, when a 16-year-old fired shots at a residence in Haninge.
The 16-year-old is sentenced for attempted murder and aggravated weapons offense to closed youth care for one year and eight months.
A 27-year-old man is sentenced to twelve years in prison for several crimes of aiding and abetting, including for having booked taxi trips for the people who carried out the crime and other shootings. Another 17-year-old is sentenced for aiding and abetting the hand grenade attack to a closed youth care facility for one year and eight months.
