To ensure that proper reuse becomes more normal, recycling giant Renewi is doing what they can. But there is a limit to the possibilities of processing material so that it gets a second life. “If more different types of waste come together, if it gets wet and oil and grease come together, it becomes more and more difficult for us,” says manager Jan-Pedro Vis. “We can do a lot here, but the more polluted the waste is delivered, the more difficult it is and the more money it costs to recycle.”
