Would you like to get started with Throne and Liberty for the first time, but don’t know exactly which build is suitable for a smooth start, a fast leveling phase and maybe even the end game? MeinMMO has a strong recommendation for you!

What kind of build is this? Anyone who has already looked at our tier list of the best weapons in Throne and Liberty knows that we recommend, among other things, several combinations with sword and shield or magic wand and tome for leveling up.

  • Sword and shield allows you to endure significantly more and causes a surprising amount of damage.
  • Wand and Tome grants you healings that make it easy to overcome mistakes and win even tougher battles.
  • Familiarizing yourself with sword and shield or wand and tome early on will make it easier for you to take on the role of tank or healer later in group challenges.

    • With the advantages mentioned, you could start your adventure straight away with this combination. However, the overall damage of this weapon combination is too low for us, and at the same time the mana costs are quite high. Both increase the level tempo.

    Therefore, to get started, we recommend the combination of sword and shield plus two-handed sword, which lets you whirl through groups of enemies almost non-stop. If you need a little more self-healing in a tricky spot, you can always use a magic wand and tome for a short time – the weapon can keep you alive even at the lowest level.

    Build for leveling with a sword and shield plus a greatsword

    Advantages of the build:

  • Extremely resistant
  • Self-healing through shield survival technique
  • High (area) damage
  • Hardly any downtime
  • Good control skills
  • You can take on the tank role at any time

    • Disadvantages of the build:

  • Not a ranged weapon
  • Quite low mobility
  • High cooldowns
  • Slight mana issues at first

    • This is how you increase your values

    Your first goal is to improve your mana efficiency. Therefore put the first 20 points into wisdom. Definitely not anymore, as from then on you will receive fewer benefits for each additional point of wisdom. From level 22 onwards, switch your focus to mobility in order to optimize your maximum weapon damage, crit chance, evasion and attack speed – again with 20 points.

    The last nine points up to the maximum level 50 then go into strength. So the priority list looks like this:

  • Levels 1 to 21: 20 points in Wisdom
  • Level 22 to 41: 20 points in agility
  • Level 42 to 50: 9 points in Strength

    General tips

  • Whenever possible, always counter rage attacks with Shield Survival Technique to restore health and mana (through the passive skill Resilient Spirit).
  • Search the Lithography Book for the “Elemental Rings” quest to convert the three green rings into the strong blue “Violent Sign” ring.
  • When you complete the Chapter 1 story codex, you will receive a green upgrade for your two-handed sword slot.
  • Up to level 50 you can easily level up with green pieces of equipment that you have upgraded to level 6. You can find tips for upgrading equipment here. Then look for blue upgrades into which you can then transfer the upgrades of the green items.

    • Selection of active skills

    If you equip a two-handed sword plus a sword and shield in the weapon box in the tutorial, you will have exactly the same number of skills available that you can put in the skill bar. Exchanging skills is worthwhile at levels 18 and 24:

  • Level 18: Replaces Strategic Onslaught with Steadfast Bastion
  • Level 24: Replaces Ravaging Tornardo with Willbreaker

    • Selection of passive skills

    You can activate up to eight passive skills during the level phase. Here is our recommendation:

  • Level 3: Skillful Evasion and Robust Constitution
  • Level 6: Replaces Skillful Evasion with Vital Force, also adds Resilient Spirit
  • Level 20: Adds Cold Warrior
  • Level 25: Choose Victor’s Morale
  • Level 30: Spectrum of Torment is a good choice
  • Level 40: Invincible Armor and Morale Boost come in the last two slots
    • The faster you can get on the feet of a ranged fighter with your melee weapons, the better.

    This is how you upgrade your skills

    During the level phase you can upgrade your skills through growth books. Prioritize the skills as follows, bringing all of the skills mentioned to blue first before targeting the purple levels:

    This is how you modify your skills

    From level 15 you can spend specialization points to modify your skills. Here are our recommendations:

  • Improves shield attack with Piercing Attack
  • Improves Stunning Strike through Cooldown Reduction / Damaged Increased / Effect Duration Increase
  • Turns Gaiafall into Frost Cleaving, activates Attack Speed ​​Increase / Critical Chance Increase
  • Improves Deathstrike through Cooldown Reduction / Damage Increase

    It’s best to start a fight against many targets with DaVinci’s Courage. Follow up with Piercing Attack, Provocative Roar, Willbreaker, Frost Cleaving, and Bold Strike. Make sure you always use Willbreaker after Provocative Roar. You can use chain hooks to bring distant targets into the fray.

    What else do I need to know about Throne and Liberty? Throne and Liberty will be released on October 1st, 2024 for PC, Xbox Series X|S and PS5. There will be crossplay between platforms.
