Runes were introduced in Throne and Liberty with the new update. MeinMMO tells you everything you need to know about the new item.
What are runes? Runes are an improvement to your equipment. They come in different rarities and versions. You can put them on your weapons and jewelry to get additional stats. There are also certain synergies between the different runes.
In order to put a rune on your equipment, you first have to unlock the slot with Sollant. But make sure that the slot matches the type of rune you have. MeinMMO tells you exactly how the runes work.

Rune overview
The different versions of the runes: With the new update the runes were introduced. These can only be placed on epic weapons or jewelry. However, it is not possible to put runes on the armor. Runes have various effects that boost your equipment when you place them on it.
In your inventory there is a special tab for runes at the top of your bag. There you can then collect up to 100 runes – so your normal inventory will not be burdened.
There are currently three different runes in the game:
These are also divided into categories:
The runes appear so far in three different rarities:
In Korea you can still find the purple rarity, but it will probably only be introduced here later. Exactly when is not known at the moment, but it could come at the same time as the T2 equipment or the T3 dungeons. As with equipment, white is the weakest and purple is the strongest. Blue runes currently have the best values for us.
How do you get runes?
Runes obtained: There are different ways to get runes. The most effective methods are the Co-op Dungeons: Dimensional Trial. To do this, however, you need the right combat power, to be able to take part there. The big advantage, however, is that you don’t have to spend any tokens for the reward. Here is a list of all rune sources:
How to craft runes?
Craft runes: It is also possible to create probability chests for runes. To do this you need rune fragments, which you get when you dismantle runes from your possession. Depending on which variant (attack, defense or support) you want to produce, you also need the right ore, which you can collect in open-world dungeons, for example.
You then have to go to a manufacturer in Felswacht Castle. There you will find the probability boxes under the bag for materials and can craft them with the materials you have won. From these chests you can win the respective runes of different rarities.
How do you unlock a rune socket?
Unlock Rune Slots: You can unlock runes under the new Rune Management button in the bottom bar of the inventory. There you can add three runes to your epic equipment, although the slots must first be unlocked with Sollant. If you click on the version, a selection window opens:
This means that you always have to unlock the slot according to the type of rune. For example, you cannot place a Rune of Defense in a red slot. But you can continually change the versions using the reset button, but you have to spend sollant again each time to unlock it.
It is also possible to remove the rune from the slot for free. So once you have opened a blue slot, you can change runes of defense as you wish.
Tip: It is important to know that once the sockets have been opened, the pieces of equipment can no longer be traded.
How does rune synergy work?
Rune Synergy: It is crucial to be able to change the rune slot at any time, as the order of the slots is important and makes a big difference. This gives you certain rune synergies.
If you stick to a special order of the rune slots, you activate a rune synergy that grants you additional values. You can also see the six different synergies of the respective rarities under the rune synergy list, which you can find in the rune management.
The following of the six different synergies are very useful:
Weapon synergies
Necklace synergies
Bracelet synergies
Ring synergies
Belt synergies
Ultimately, it is of course up to you which synergy you prefer for your personal fighting style. However, we wanted to give you a little support. It is also possible to play without a synergy and, for example, equip three attack runes, but then you forego the extra value of the synergy.
A notice: As with the runes, there are four different rarities for synergies; White, green, blue, purple. The synergy is always based on the rune whose value has the lowest rarity.
So if you want to create a blue synergy, you have to equip three runes with blue rarity. For example, if one of them has a white rarity, you will only receive a white synergy.
Since we don’t have purple runes yet, we can’t get purple synergies yet, even if they are already shown under the rune synergy list in the game.
How to level runes?
Level up runes: Attack runes, defense runes and support runes each have a chance to gain a value when received, which is rolled randomly. The three different types of runes have their own value pool. These values can then be leveled.
To level up a rune, you must get another rune with the same value. The rarity doesn’t matter. The maximum level of blue runes is currently level 60.
For example, you can use a level 1 attack rune with crit. Find chance to hit (weapon). If you later get another attack rune with crit. Chance to hit (weapon), regardless of rarity, is captured, there is a chance that your first rune will be automatically upgraded to level 2. So advancement is not guaranteed, but you do have a chance of even skipping some levels. However, the exact same rune with the same value must drop for the level to increase.
However, the effort increases with each level: the chance of improving a rune by finding it again decreases the higher the level is. However, the rune levels are tied to your account. This means that your level progress will not be lost even if you dismantle a high level rune.
