Those responsible at Amazon Games and NCSoft have revealed how many players have watched Throne and Liberty at launch so far. Spoiler: Lost Ark was significantly more successful in 2022.
How many players are playing Throne and Liberty? Until now, water level reports from websites like steamdb.info had to be used to get a feel for how many players have tried the western version of Throne and Liberty since launch.
In the past 24 hours, up to 285,864 players were online in the new MMORPG at the same time. The all-time high (from last weekend) is 336,300 simultaneously active Steam users. However, these numbers only reflect snapshots and exclude the communities on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.

What do the official numbers look like? On the official Amazon Games website (via amazongames.com), the publisher explains that they welcomed more than three million registered players to Solisium at the launch of Throne and Liberty. Players were able to accumulate 24 million hours of playing time and more than 11 million hours watched on Twitch.
It is unclear how many players played on consoles. The clear difference between the current Steam peak and the official status report from Amazon Games suggests that Throne and Liberty was also able to build large communities on PS5 and Xbox Series.
How does Throne and Liberty compare to Lost Ark? About two and a half years ago, Amazon Games brought an Asian online role-playing game to the West. Lost Ark was able to attract more than 1.3 million players to the servers at the same time at launch.
A press release from March 30, 2022 also states that more than 10 million players have tried the western version of Lost Ark in just over two weeks. There were even around 20 million players worldwide. The hours watched on Twitch in the launch phase amounted to 158 million hours.
So is Throne and Liberty off to a disappointing start? It is unclear what specific hopes and expectations those responsible at Amazon Games and NCSoft have placed on the launch of Throne and Liberty and the number of players. However, the fact that the publisher releases the numbers in a press release is a sign that the launch is considered a success.
Please note that Lost Ark (and New World a year earlier) were blatant outliers that are still in the all-time top 10 of Steam games with the most active players at the same time. Many other (Free2Play) MMORPGs were unable to attract anywhere near three million players at launch.
