The MMORPG Throne and Liberty planned for 2023 has revealed new details about the class system, PvP and the game world in a video.
What is Throne and Liberty? Throne and Liberty is considered the biggest MMORPG to be released in 2023 and the great hope of the genre. It is being developed by the Korean studio NCSoft, which also produced Aion, Blade & Soul and Lineage.
The release was originally supposed to be in 2022, but there were problems with a western partner for the game, which is why it was postponed to 2023. The release is planned for PC and console.
Where is the new information coming from? In a 10-minute video, the developers of Throne and Liberty talked about the MMORPG. They specifically addressed the class system, PvP and the game world.

Combinable weapon types and free classes

Design Director Lee Moon Sub has now announced more details about the possible combinations of the weapons:
Instead of being limited to a class given by the game, players can adapt their weapons to the situation. Two different types of weapons can be combined, and switching between them allows you to maximize strength.
This enables strategies to compensate for possible weaknesses. When players are in a tight spot, each weapon type offers defensive moves that can protect at the right moment.
In addition, Lee Moon Sub said the developers are very proud of Throne and Liberty’s free class system, as players experience the joy of combining and configuring by linking abilities of each weapon.

Players decide if they want to play PvP
What do the developers say about PvP? According to design director Lee Moon Sub, players in Throne and Liberty are free to choose whether or not to engage in PvP combat.
It should always be recognizable, no matter where you are on the map, which PvP events and competitions are planned. On the one hand, this should allow strategic play and prevent players from unexpectedly getting into PvP situations.
The competitions in Throne and Liberty should also be based on the background stories of the individual regions within the MMORPG and take place regionally. Players compete against each other for about 20 minutes and pursue the goal of climbing a ranking.
On top of that, there should be guild wars, in which the players fight to acquire so-called “stones of possession”. These battles are said to require preparation and strategy, which can make building a defensive zone useful, for example. The guild that receives one of the coveted stones benefits from expanded abilities and the acquisition of the necessary raw materials.
Game world offers environmental influences and unlimited freedom
What do the developers say about the game world? The game world of the MMORPG will offer various weather and environmental influences with visual effects. These should act like organic beings together with the players, create a living world and offer the players a variety of options.
An ecosystem can change or a terrain can feel different depending on the situation. There are predictable events like a day and night cycle that allows you to plan, and unpredictable influences like changeable weather that you as a player have to adapt to.
In addition, the developers of Throne and Liberty speak of unlimited freedom in terms of the game world, which is also reflected in the word “Liberty” in the game title. The video says: “Liberty represents the freedom to adventure in the game world.”
Likewise, this freedom is one of the pillars of the world of MMORPGs and should help people to make connections.
