Threw infants from windows – mentally ill

A new mother who threw her newborn baby from a hotel window in Paris has received mental care, says French prosecutor.

The woman, an 18-year-old student from the United States, had, according to a source within the Prosecutor’s Office, gave birth to the child in a hotel room on Monday, and then threw it down the street from the window. The baby received care but did not survive his injuries.

A murder investigation was initiated, but it was found that the woman was not in order to be brought to trial and she has instead been placed in a psychiatric care department.
