Three-year-old Nella has lived in family homes almost her entire life, after being forcibly taken into care.
Recently, TV4 Nyheterna told that she risks being deported to Pakistan with her parents.
Now the decision has come – she has to leave Sweden in just a few weeks.
– You are devastated and in despair, says the family home mother Therese Åkerberg.
TV4 Nyheterna has previously told about three-year-old Nella’s fate. She was born in 2020 in Sweden to Pakistani parents, but already as a one-year-old she was placed in a family home according to the Act on the care of young people, LVU. This when both the social service and the court of appeals determined that the parents were not capable of meeting Nella’s needs.
Although she has been placed in a family home, the biological parents are formally custodians and when they received a decision on deportation and chose to agree to it, it means that Nella must go with them.
The family home mother appeals to the authorities
In a few days, the final decision came – Nella is to be deported. The family home mother is now appealing to the authorities to act and stop the deportation.
– You are devastated and in despair about this and feel that it cannot happen like this, says Therese Åkerberg.
How long until Nella has to return?
– I understand it to be about 3-4 weeks, she says.
Therese Åkerberg now lives on the hope that the transfer of custody that has been initiated will be speeded up and that Nella will then be allowed to stay. But there is no guarantee that this will be the case, as a transfer of custody is not the same as obtaining a residence permit, but it is a question that must then be tested.
– Nella has got her strongest connection here in Sweden. I don’t see that it is reasonable for her to be taken away from this family that she sees as her own. It is not reasonable to uproot her from preschool and Swedish society, where she needs care based on her special needs.
The Migration Agency does not comment on the case without a power of attorney from the guardians, nor does the social welfare board in Malmö want to comment on the case.
