On the evening of August 25, two parents in Alto, Wisconsin, discovered that their three-year-old son was missing. They searched the entire house and adjacent buildings without success and then concluded that the son must have disappeared into the adjacent cornfield.
However, finding a little boy in a 400,000-square-meter field full of meter-high corn plants proved impossible for the parents.
They chose to contact the police, who, with the help of drones and a thermal imaging camera, were able to find the boy well-preserved just over 800 meters from home.
– Without the drone, it would have taken hours to search the entire field. Then the outcome could have been completely different, says the local police chief to American Fox News.
– Events like this show the importance of new technology in the police.
