Three Utrechters swim from England to France and back: ‘Channel crossing is every swimmer’s dream’

Three Utrechters swim from England to France and back Channel

Because France does not support the canal crossing, they are not allowed to land there. “It’s not the official way of entering France, otherwise we’re illegal there. It’s literally tapping the shore and swimming back,” says Claudia. In England, on the other hand, there is a special association, the Channel Swimming Association. The federation determines the rules and keeps a register of swimmers who have successfully completed the crossing. For example, wearing a wetsuit is not allowed. The team will only be allowed to wear a bathing suit, swimming cap, swimming goggles and possibly earplugs. In addition to being included in the official register, everyone receives a certificate.
