Three Ukrainian attacks on Russian airfields

A large number of drones were fired from Ukraine during Thursday night. The target was Russian airfields in the Krasnodar, Rostov and Saratov regions.

According to an intelligence source that Kiyv Post has spoken to with around ten Russian military aircraft said to have been destroyed in the attacks carried out by the Ukrainian military intelligence service GUR.

One of the attacks, which according to the Kiyv Post was carried out by the Ukrainian military together with the security service SBU, was directed at the Morozovsk airbase in Rostov. Several Russian planes, which have been used in attacks against Ukraine, are said to be lined up there.

At least six of the planes at the airbase are said to have been destroyed in the attack. A further eight planes are said to have been heavily damaged.

According to Kyiv Independent fighter planes of the Su-34 and Su-27 models must be on the base. Both models are said to be worth around $35 million per plane.

“Come as a shock to the enemy”

In the Saratov region, at least three Tu-95M strategic bombers are said to have been damaged by Ukrainian drones. Seven Russian soldiers are said to have also been killed, probably bomber pilots, according to the Kyiv Post.

Two more Russian warplanes are said to have been destroyed at a military airfield in Yeysk in Krasnodar. According to the information, the plane was “completely burnt out” and four Russian soldiers also died in the attack.

Russia: Shot down several drones

Ukraine has not commented on the attacks, but from the Russian side it has been admitted that Ukraine carried out an attack with a large number of drones.

Russia claims to have shot down 53 drones, almost all of which are said to have been shot down in Rostov, the Kyiv Independent reports. In social media, there have also been reports of explosions near the airfield in Krasnodar.

– In the Morozovsky district, not far from the airfield, eight people were injured, according to initial information from an explosive charge from a downed drone, Rostov region governor Vasily Golubev wrote on Telegram.
