Italian police have arrested three Palestinians who are suspected of planning terrorist acts. In a statement the police said the three had planned suicide attacks against unnamed targets.
Israel has requested that those arrested be extradited, as they are said to have links to a group active in a refugee camp in the West Bank. Italian investigators are investigating whether the three have had contact with an armed branch of the Palestinian movement Fatah, labeled a terrorist by the EU.
The Israeli request is being processed by a court in the city of L’Aquila in central Italy.
According to the man’s lawyer, one of the suspects has been in custody since January.
