Three people have been seriously injured in a hit-and-run accident with a train in central Örebro, according to the police.

– This is a very serious accident near the southern station in Örebro, says Lars Hedelin, press spokesperson at the police.

According to Lars Hedelin, no vehicle, apart from the train, is involved in the accident.

– The injured persons are pedestrians. The train is not a passenger train, but probably some kind of freight train or service train, but I don’t know more than that at the moment, he says.

The accident occurred at 22:44 on Wednesday and the rescue operation continued until midnight.

– The ambulance and rescue services are ready and have left the scene, says Annelie Sylveira, team leader at SOS Alarm.

The police are investigating the incident and have seized the train. Train traffic is suspended, according to the Swedish Transport Administration.
