In March last year, a 37-year-old man was found dead in a bag on Värmdö.
Now three people suspected of involvement in the murder are charged.
– We claim that the crime victim was placed in bags in a bag which was then transported from the residence in Nacka to a forest area in Värmdö where the bag was taken out and left, says Björn Heidebrandt, prosecutor in Stockholm.
The last sign of life happened on March 7 last year. A few days later, the 37-year-old man’s body was found in bags in a bag on road 222 on Värmdö in Stockholm.
On Tuesday, the prosecutor announced that two people – a 25-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man – had been charged on suspicion of murder or aiding and abetting murder.
A third person, who is the older brother of the accused woman, is suspected of aggravated protection of a criminal.
Honor-related motive behind the crime
According to the prosecutors, the victim must have come to the woman’s home, where he was then beaten and stabbed. He is said to have died as a result of a cut to the throat.
After the man was placed in a bag in the terrain, the suspects fled abroad – first to Denmark, then on to Germany and the United States.
The woman was arrested in May and arrived in Sweden from the United States in November 2024, while the brother was arrested just before Easter last year at the border between Mexico and the United States.
The motive for the crime must be honour-related, an extra aggravating circumstance according to the prosecutors.
A fourth person, the woman’s husband, is wanted internationally. He is in custody in his absence on suspicion of murder and grave breach of peace.
– It is good for everyone involved that the case is now tried by the district court, even if the husband is not there, says Cecilia Tepper, senior prosecutor in Stockholm.
