In 2023, 229 people died in traffic accidents in Sweden – two more than in 2022.

Just over three quarters – 77 percent – ​​of those who died were men. Twelve children were also among the dead, statistics from the authority Trafikanalys show.

The number of unprotected road users who died, i.e. cyclists, motorcyclists and pedestrians, decreased by twelve people compared to 2022. In contrast, the number of people injured in cars, buses or trucks – protected road users – was 14 more in 2023.
