Three new doctors join CKHA medical team

Three more medical professionals have joined the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.

Obstetrician/gynecologist Dr. Rachelle Shirley, anesthetist Dr. Emadaldi Andisha and hospitalist Dr. Aamer Somani are the newest doctors working at the local hospital, stated CKHA media release.

CKHA chief of staff Dr. Pervez Faruqi said the hospital is pleased to welcome the doctors to the medical team.

“These physicians have unique clinical backgrounds and extensive education, collectively enhancing our commitment to high-quality patient and family-centered care in the Chatham-Kent community,” Faruqi said.

Shirley completed a clinical fellowship at the University of Toronto in pregnancy obesity medicine and surgery, CKHA said.

She will be completing a Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship at McMaster University, beginning this summer. When she returns to CKHA in the summer of 2026, she will be trained to provide care to her patients in both hospital and community practice settings.

“Although she is not opening a community clinic at this time, her services will be invaluable for the next several months by helping our current team of specialists provide call coverage,” CKHA said.

“Among other opportunities that we were considering, my family and I chose Chatham-Kent because of its proximity to major cities and cultural centers, the weather, as well as its friendly and welcoming community,” Shirley said.

“Coupled with the friendliness of the community and the efficiency of the onboarding team at CKHA, I found the process of relocation to be seamless,” she added.

Originally from Libya, Dr. Andisha completed five years of clinical training as a specialist in anesthesia and intensive care, the CKHA said.

He spent the final year of his training in cardiothoracic anesthesia and intensive care, subspecialties at two academic hospitals where he demonstrated strong clinical and surgical expertise, the CKHA said.

Andisha joined CKHA in late 2023 and he and his family are happy to be in Chatham and explore the community.

Dr. Somani completed his Doctor of Medicine from Western University in 2020 and came to CKHA in July 2020 as one of the family medicine residents, CKHA said.

Somani has enjoyed his time here in Chatham-Kent and is looking forward to joining the Hospitalist Program and practicing inpatient medicine.

“I am excited to continue working in Chatham-Kent and contributing to the same community that I have trained in over the past couple of years,” said Somani.
