Three men have boarded a ship from Nigeria to the Canary Islands. All three survived the eleven-day journey but were dehydrated and hypothermic when they were taken to hospital.
This is not the first time stowaways have been found on commercial ships and many do not survive the journey. According to the UN refugee agency, at least 1,500 migrants have lost their lives in the past year alone.
