A 14-year-old girl was gang-raped on Ribersborgsstranden in Malmö in 2011. Twelve years later, the police have now arrested three people after a DNA match. That’s what Sydsvenskan writes. The investigation was closed in 2011 after a complete standstill. The police managed to secure DNA traces from one of the perpetrators, but the person was not in any records. – So the investigation was closed in September 2011. No progress was made, says District Attorney Lina Wiktor to Sydsvenskan. Twelve years later, on January 4 this year, two people were arrested in connection with an assault in Nydala. Both were topped and the DNA was run against various registers. It was then that one of the men’s DNA matched the traces from the gang rape on Ribersborgsstranden. Raped as 20-year-olds The twelve-year-old preliminary investigation was resumed and now the man is in custody awaiting prosecution, writes Sydsvenskan. The man is currently 32 years old and should therefore have been in his 20s when the rape was committed. Yesterday, the two other men were arrested, but at present they have no DNA linked to the crime scene. The two men should also have been in their early teens when the rape took place. All three men are suspected of rape against children where the statute of limitations is 15 years.
