According to the indictment, the crime took place during the years 2021-2023. Bravida had an agreement with Region Skåne to carry out electrical service work at SUS in Malmö. In the agreement, there was a fixed hourly rate, but this department at Bravida believed that the level was too low. In order to collect the compensation, they invoiced for work that was never performed.
“Especially serious”
– It can be seen as particularly serious that the frauds are directed at the public sector, it concerns our common tax money, says Lars Olson, chief prosecutor and preliminary investigation leader at the ecocrime authority in Malmö.
Tried to pressure employees
The frauds were discovered after a whistleblower at Bravida sounded the alarm. SVT Nyheter Skåne has previously reported on the tangle, including a secret recording that shows how a manager tried to pressure one of the employees to salt an invoice.
Since the scandal was discovered, it has turned out that more than Region Skåne received excessively high invoices from Bravida. Among other things, the city of Malmö, which after an investigation got almost a million back from the company. Several other regions also initiated reviews of their invoices from Bravida. A senior manager was also fired from the company for failing to act.
