(Finance) – TheItalian Association of Young Lawyers expresses full solidarity with my fellow lawyer John Caruso of the Court of Padua, defender of Philip Turettaaccused of the infamous murder of Julia Cecchettin. “We are witnessing yet another very serious act of intimidation against a colleague deemed “guilty” of having exercised his professional activity, i.e. defense activity. It is not acceptable for lawyers to be victims of attacks and threats of this kind and it is necessary , as Aiga has been loudly calling for for some time, an urgent legislative intervention and awareness raising among the community by the institutions that can guarantee the protection and safety of professionals and serenity in carrying out the profession”, states the president Aiga, Carlo Foglieni.
“These episodes effectively constitute a violent attack on the entire category of lawyersthe rule of law and due process. The right of defenseconstitutionally guaranteed by art. 24, is one of the pillars of our legal system and its application must be guaranteed without distinction, regardless of the crime alleged”.
