Threats allegedly made by man with sawed-off shotgun: Sarnia police

A Sarnia man is facing a long list of criminal charges after two people were threatened Tuesday in the city by a man with a loaded saw-off shotgun, city police say.

A man threatened to kill a woman at a residence and pointed a saw-off shotgun at her after loading it, police said in a news release. The man then threatened to shoot another person in the home who tried to intervene, police said.

The two victims fled the home and called the police. Officers arrived at the scene to find a suspect attempting to hide a weapon outside.

A Sarnia man was arrested and is charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition contrary to probation orders, unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon, uttering threats to cause death, pointing a firearm, using a firearm in commission of an offense, possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition, possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized and careless use of a firearm.

Police said the name of the man charged was not released to protect the identity of the victims.
