Threads, Meta’s X rival, launched in July. The new platform is not available in many European countries so far. It has been reported that this situation will change this week. Threads has quietly added a countdown timer to its website. This timer has become available only in markets where the platform is not yet available, namely the European Union. The timer currently has three days until my writing is finished. This means Threads is ready to launch in the EU on Thursday, December 14th.
Threads offers invitations via Instagram
Additionally, a Threads user noted that Instagram users in the EU will be able to search for tickets in the Instagram app to reveal a digital invite to Threads and the launch time. This may be an overdue update for Threads, though. It was stated that the platform bypassed the EU at launch due to regulatory concerns regarding data sharing. Either way, a major expansion like this could give the service a great chance to compete against X.
