THQ Nordic Opens Office in Singapore Publisher to Assault Southeast

After the United States in 2012, then Japan in 2019, THQ Nordic continues to expand around the world. The Swedish publisher announces the opening of an office in Singapore which will enable it to have a better positioning in South-East Asia. The objective is indeed to invest in emerging markets in video games such as Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, Taiwan, but also Hong Kong. For Philipp Brock, Marketing Director of THQ Nordic, this arrival in Southeast Asia is essential, not to say vital.

With nearly half of the world’s gamers located here, establishing a footprint is not only a daunting challenge, but one that’s utterly exciting. Moreover and as always: our interest is oriented in the long term, not just a quick pleasure. This region is one of big open hearts and fans of wonderful games. There’s no better time than now to grab our controllers, warm up our PCs, and get to know this passionate community.

Obviously, it’s hard not to think of China when you see how the country in the middle has become an essential market today and in the years to come. Other major manufacturers and publishers such as Sony Interactive Entertainment, Valve Software, Epic Games and Quantic Dream now have their eyes on the Chinese market. The Singaporean entity is the second subsidiary of THQ Nordic on the Asian continent, after the incorporation of THQ Nordic Japan KK in October 2019. THQ Nordic Singapore has also adapted its logo with the country in question, since we see the Merlion, which is none other than the official mascot of Singapore, and which is a mixture between a lion and a fish, representing the native names of Singapore “Singapura – The Lion City” and the origin of Singapore as a village fishermen when it was called “Temasek – Sea Town”.
