South Park: Snow Day announced
THQ Nordic has announced a collaboration game called South Park: Snow Day. This game is scheduled to be released for PC and consoles in 2024. The Austrian publisher announced its new South Park game almost a year ago, almost on this date.
Prior to this tip, there was a pretty self-explanatory job posting that appeared online in early 2022, revealing that another South Park game was in development.
The trailer of the new game drew attention
South Park: Snow Day has a teaser trailer at the 2023 THQ Nordic Showcase event. The one-minute trailer opens with Cartman giving a passionate talk about the snow holiday, which he describes as “the most magical day” in a young boy’s life.
Meanwhile, Jimbo is standing in front of a gun shop called Jimbo’s Guns, run by Kern. This shop is a recurring venue throughout the TV series and has also appeared in Ubisoft’s authentic South Park RPG games The Stick of Truth and The Fractured But Whole.
Cartman’s speech is followed by a 20-second in-game footage showing intense combat in a city square after a snowstorm. The video is in line with THQ Nordic’s description of South Park: Snow Day as a team game with up to four players. Because it shows Cartman, Kyle, Stan, and Kenny fighting against middle school students.
Unlike Ubisoft’s acclaimed South Park RPG titles, Snow Fight doesn’t try to emulate the visual style of the iconic TV series. Instead, the character designs seem true to the simple aesthetic of South Park, even though the game features 3D graphics. Also, although the title of the game is that snowball fights are part of the pack, the combat shown in the trailer is much more intense. Various melee weapons, fireballs and snow globes are also featured in the video.
