During 2023, 44 shootings and ten detonations took place in police region Mitt, which includes Uppsala County. A total of ten people died, some completely unrelated to gang crime. According to the police, the targets are sometimes looked up through the public databases of personal data.
SVT has requested statistics regarding twelve addresses affected by acts of violence in 2023. One of these is the address in Fullerö where 24-year-old Soha Saad died, and several houses were damaged in a bombing.
– It feels uncomfortable that people are searching for addresses in this area. We have had good cohesion after the explosion, but there is a risk that neighbors will become suspicious of each other, says Kurt Hofgren.
Cooperation with the police
The large increase in searches occurs in the days after an act of violence has taken place, SVT’s compilation shows. In some cases, an increase is noticeable in the days before, but it is not possible to establish a connection to gang crime.
– A search is enough to find the answer. The interesting thing is to know which individuals have made current searches. Ratsit releases search history on person and address to the police when they request it. says Anders Johansson, CEO at Ratsit.
