Thousands of Swedes had their premium pension zeroed out

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Just a few days after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February, the Moscow Stock Exchange closed and Russia funds have now become completely worthless.

— Their accounts have been completely zeroed out and their premium pension has been reduced to zero. That’s around 3,300 people, says Ole Settergren, head of analysis at the Swedish Pensions Authority.

“On average, it is between one thousand and two thousand kroner a month,” he continues.

For a further 24,000 people, the premium pension will be written down by an average of SEK 1,000 a month starting next year.

“Since they have had other funds as well, it has not been necessary for us to zero out the payment during the year, but we only make the adjustment at the end of the year, just as we do with all other premium pensions,” says Ole Settergren to Ekot.
