Adverse weather conditions in South Australia since the weekend caused widespread damage to power lines, ABC News reported. More than 34,000 people in South Australia are still waiting for the power outage to be fixed. Paul Roberts, one of the directors of SA Power Networks, a power distribution company operating in the state, said that the repair work may take longer than expected.
Roberts said work was being done on the outage across the state, but they had to rebuild many parts of the network in South Australia.
Meanwhile, the Port Lincoln area was the state’s wettest, according to the Australian Bureau of Meteorology.
The towns of Booborowie, Burra, Mount Bryan, Robertstown and Bright are among the places most affected by the weather conditions in the state.
THEY CANNOT MAKE EMERGENCY CALLS
Police said residents in the north-central part of the state are still unable to make emergency calls due to blackouts, and urged them to go to the nearest hospital or police station in case of emergency.
The state of South Australia surrendered to heavy rains on 12 November. Power outages were experienced in the state as a result of rains, wind and lightning strikes. (AA)
