In Budapest, the capital of Hungary, several thousands of people have protested against the new law of the country’s government on Tuesday. According to Reuters reporters, about 2,000 people participated in the demonstration on Tuesday.

A week ago, the Hungarian Parliament approved a law to prevent the annual Pride march in Budapest.

The law, which is powered by the Fidesz party in Hungary, prohibits the organization of gatherings that conflict with the law approved in 2021, prohibiting “promoting homosexuality and presenting” minors.

Under the approved law, participants in the Pride march are threatened by a fine of up to € 500. The law also gives the police permission to use face recognition technology to identify organizers and participants in demonstrations.

-The malicious law approved last Tuesday not only denies Pride paragraphs, it will also in practice make it possible to suppress all kinds of protests in the future, said a member of the Hungarian Parliament and Tuesday demonstration organizer Akoshazy In his Facebook update.

Demonstrators and Opposition Momentum Party activists shouted “Europe” and “dirty Fidesz” as part of the protest.

A week ago on Tuesday, protesters clogged the bridge in the center of Budapest after the Parliament had approved the law.

Budapest’s liberal mayor Gergely karacsony has criticized the law. Budapest Pride organizers have said that they intend to organize a procession despite the law.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor orbán has criticized the HLBT movement and his government has systematically reduced the rights of the movement in recent years.

In recent weeks, Orbán has sworn to destroy Hungary media companies and organizations that receive funding from abroad.
