Thousands of Palestinians stranded in the Gaza Strip

While many are desperately trying to leave Gaza, others are trying to get back to their families.
TV4’s team with Terese Christiansson and Felix Larnö have met some of the Gazans who are stranded on the West Bank.
– I have seven daughters and four sons. It feels like I will never see them again, says Nazih Mohammed Kuarea.

For a couple of years, thousands of Gazans have received work permits in Israel, but just a few hours after Hamas carried out its attack, they were given the choice to leave the country or be imprisoned. Now over 2,000 Gazans are stranded on the West Bank. TV4’s team has met several of them who are desperately trying to get in touch with their families in Gaza.

– Every second I think that I will return home and not find my children alive, says the painter Nazih Mohammed Kuarea.

The workers are not allowed to remain in Israel, but they are also not allowed to go home to Gaza. Pending word, they are being supported by volunteers in Ramallah.

Don’t want to talk politics

– First of all, we arrange medicine for them, that is very important. Then we arrange somewhere to sleep and other personal things. We are one people, we do not differentiate between Gaza and the West Bank, says Khalid E’layan, a volunteer in Ramallah.

It could happen now between Israel and Hamas

Those whom TV4 meets do not want to talk politics. They only think about their families and their safety.

– I have contact with them, but it is very dangerous there. They are scared. There is no food, no water, no one can sleep. They are afraid, says Mohammed, a mechanic and resident of Gaza.
