Fans chanted and set off pyrotechnics as Marcelo was introduced at Olympiakos’ home ground Karaiskakis Stadium in the port of Piraeus.
“Thank you. I am very happy and satisfied. My family too. I hope to help the team with great dedication,” Marcelo told fans, adding in Greek: “Come on, Olympiakos!”
Marcelo will wear number 12 at his new club. The same number he wore at Real Madrid. He played in the Spanish capital club from January 2007 until year. The full-back also won 25 titles with the club, five of which were Champions League titles.
The terms of the Brazilian winger’s contract have not yet been made public. But according to Greek media, the contract extends over one year, with an option for another year.
