Thousands of doctors in England are going on strike on Thursday – for the eleventh time.

The five-day strike, which begins on Thursday, involves doctors who are early in their careers, and who form an important part of healthcare in the country.

The conflict over pay and working conditions has been ongoing between the doctors and the government since the end of 2022. In January, the doctors went on strike for six days, leading to the cancellation of thousands of medical appointments and surgeries.

The strike ends on Tuesday, two days before the July 4 election, where the country’s public health system is one of the most burning topics.

The medical union BMA states that it is ready for dialogue and has already had some talks with the opposition Labor party, which is leading in opinion polls ahead of the election.
