Activision has banned thousands of players against cheaters in Black Ops 6’s Ranked mode. However, some famous publishers say these efforts are not enough.
Activision has responded to concerns about Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s Ranked playlist, specifically the work being done to block cheaters. The company says it has banned thousands of players and continues to ban more every hour. However, some prominent publicists have spoken out against these statements to express their ongoing concerns.
Black Ops 6’s Ricochet Anti-Cheat System and Bans
According to Activision’s statement, the AI-powered systems in Call of Duty’s Ricochet anti-cheat technology “continue to progress with code optimizations” to “accelerate enforcement” against malicious players. Activision has banned more than 19,000 people since the ranked game mode launched last week, and Ricochet is running “hourly sweeps” to kick out more cheaters.
Activision has always said that the fight against cheaters is an ongoing battle and may not be completely resolved. Famous publisher Nadeshot responded to this statement by saying that “from his point of view, this is pure propaganda.” Another famous streamer, Westie, also stated that Activision’s Ricochet updates were ineffective and “caused zero change in the gaming experience.” He also said that cheating continues to be a problem in Warzone.
Another issue raised by Call of Duty fans is that Ranked mode on console forces players into cross-platform play, thus causing them to be matched against PC players. The mouse and keyboard setup is considered to be the most precise way to play an FPS game like Call of Duty. On console, there are concerns about a “fair playing field” for people using controllers when playing against people using mouse and keyboard. There’s also the issue that it’s generally easier to install cheat software on PC than on console.
