The organizer Pride Oslo has decided to cancel a planned event in Oslo on Monday evening. This after the police recommended to cancel due to security reasons. But despite that, many have gathered at Rådhusplatsen, where the demonstration was supposed to take place. The demonstration was to be held to honor the victims of the fatal shootings during the midsummer weekend. Initially, both Oslo’s municipal council and the organizers said that the demonstration could be carried out in a safe way. But on Monday afternoon, police warned against holding the rally – We can not guarantee security. Therefore, we recommend that it is not implemented, said Martin Strand, chief of staff at the Oslo Police at a press conference.
