In Greece, the authorities have ordered the city of Marathonas to be evacuated due to the wildfires that have ravaged the country, says the Greek Broadcasting Company ERT.
The town’s residents were ordered to evacuate to the coastal town of Néa Mákri.
The city of more than 30,000 inhabitants is located approximately 40 kilometers northeast of the country’s capital, Athens. Wildfires that started during the day have spread quickly in the area, accelerated by the hot and windy weather.
