Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

During a Super-G race in Cortina d’Ampezzo in January 2022, the accident happened to alpine national team skier Lisa Hörnblad.
The 26-year-old crashed, and injured her left knee so badly that she was forced to undergo surgery.

I thought they were going to amputate my leg, she says to SVT Sport.

In mid-September, the Alpine national team skier did Lisa Hörnblad a somewhat unexpected comeback after his serious knee injury. An injury sustained after a nasty crash in a Super-G race in Italy’s Cortina d’Ampezzo in January 2022.

Hornblade’s nightmare

The injury made Hörnblad unsure if she would ever be able to ski again. But just eight months after the accident, she was back, during a national team camp in Oslo.
– I think the doctor is still a little shocked that I even ski. I really didn’t think it would go this fast, Hörnblad told SVT Sport at the time.

“Feeling really bad”

Hörnblad was on her way to a camp in Italy, but at the airport she began to feel ill.
“Out of nowhere, the knee started to hurt a lot and it escalated quickly. I felt really bad, high fever, I couldn’t move my leg,” she writes on her Instagram.

The bad feeling was therefore due to blood poisoning in the recently operated knee.
“The pain before they opened the first time is undoubtedly the worst I have experienced in my entire life. So, so, so grateful that it doesn’t hurt as much anymore,” writes Hörnblad while she hopes to be sufficiently recovered to be able to come home for Christmas.
